Jackie was shockingly diagnosed with cancer, later finding out she had Pancreatic cancer which had spread. After being diagnosed Jackie tried to live for everyday as it came, making plans to see The Osmonds in May 2012 with her friends at Waitrose and re-visiting Walton-on-the-Naze where she spent many childhood holidays with her family. This was a special place for Jackie as her mother's ashes had been scattered here. Jackie was sudden taken ill with Liver problems and admitted to Peterborough City Hospital. She received not just alot of support from the staff at the hospital but an amazing amount of support from her family and close friends.
